Back in the House
After 17 months living in our trailer, some of them spent traveling, some camped in Ashland, Oregon, and the last two in our own driveway in Taos, New Mexico, we moved back into our house yesterday. It's been empty since the end of September, but we stubbornly insisted that we'd sell it any minute, and didn't want to bother moving back in, only to have to move out again. And then winter hit, with single digit temperatures at night, and frozen pipes in a trailer that was never meant to be used in this kind of weather. I'm not sure how I feel about this. Yesterday I felt terrible. I felt defeated. I felt like we'd wasted all those months we spent looking for Home, only to be plopped right back where we started. Talk about taking the long way home... I guess we could have saved ourselves a lot of effort by just staying put in the first place. But I don't really believe that.
